In 2024, as per Fiverr, independent professionals in the United States are projected to generate $319 billion in revenue, with the 30 largest metropolitan areas accounting for $208 billion of that total. New York leads the way with $34.6 billion, followed by Los Angeles at $26.3 billion and Miami at $16 billion. Other top markets include Washington, D.C. ($10.4B), Dallas ($9.79B), Chicago ($9.04B), San Francisco ($8.9B), Houston ($7.86B), Atlanta ($7.44B), and Philadelphia and Boston (around $7.3B each).
Several mid-sized cities are also generating significant freelance revenue. Nashville earned $4.32 billion, close to Seattle ($4.37B), Austin ($4.43B), and Denver ($4.19B). Las Vegas ($3.51B) exceeds both Minneapolis and Detroit ($3.43B each). Other cities such as San Diego, Riverside, Baltimore, Portland, Charlotte, Sacramento, San Antonio, and St. Louis report revenues ranging from $1.88 billion to $4.44 billion, highlighting the widespread distribution of freelance work across the country.
