📈 Rising Multiple Jobholders Amid Declining U.S. Average Weekly Hours

Since 2015, U.S. average weekly hours have generally declined, while the number of multiple jobholders has surged. This divergence accelerated after the pandemic. From Q1 2021 to February 2025, average weekly hours fell by 2.1%, while the number of multiple jobholders increased by 39.8%. Over a longer horizon, from Q1 2015 to February 2025, average weekly hours declined by 1.3%, whereas multiple jobholders grew by 38.6%.
