Jack Ma reemerges
Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma was once the richest man in China with a net worth of over $60 billion. He largely disappeared from the spotlight after clashing with Chinese regulators, which resulted in his net worth falling by more than half.
At the center of this controversy was Ant Group's planned 2020 IPO, which was expected to be the world's largest. Ma began making more public appearances in 2023, including teaching as a visiting professor in Tokyo.
