World's Busiest Single Runway Airports

Most major airports have multiple runways to accommodate the high volume of aircraft continuously landing and taking off. But not all. India's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai has the highest annual passenger traffic for a single runway airport. London has two of the busiest and two are in Asia. Of the seven busiest airports, only one is in the US: San Diego International Airport, known for its location inside the city and close landing approaches to downtown.
