International tourism to the Americas rose by 8.4% in 2024, with North America capturing 55% of all international overnight visitors to the region. Mexican destinations remained the cornerstone of Latin American travel, accounting for 28% of the region’s total international arrivals.
Across the 79 destinations tracked in the Americas, international overnight arrivals reached 124 million in 2024. The Top 30 destinations drew 94 million visitors, representing 76% of the regional total. As expected, half of these leading destinations were located in the United States and Canada, reflecting North America’s continued dominance. Within Latin America, Mexico stands out with four destinations, while Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) claims the title of the region’s highest-ranked destination.
