📈 U.S. Trade Deficit by Region: Asia Leads, China’s Share Falls

In the 12 months ending Q2 2025, the U.S. goods trade deficit totaled $1,353B, with Asia contributing $816B (60%) — $280B from China (21%) and $536B from the rest of Asia (40%). The EU added $273B (20%), Mexico $185B (14%), and Canada $60B (5%). While Asia has long dominated the deficit, China’s share has fallen since peaking in 2018, with the rest of Asia now surpassing China as the largest regional contributor.
