From January to August 2025, U.S. goods exports rose 3.5% year over year to $1,436 billion, while goods imports climbed 8.9% to $2,357 billion. The faster growth in imports pushed the goods trade deficit up 18.5% to $921 billion.
In August 2025, U.S. goods exports totaled $176 billion, while imports rose to $262 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of $86 billion.
