Apple is America’s Favorite Smartphone Brand
What we’re showing
A bar chart listing the most popular smartphone brands in the U.S., from a survey which ran from Jan–Dec, 2023, asking 9,500+ respondents, aged 18–64: “What brand is your primarily used smartphone?” Brands are ranked by the percentage of respondents who answered with their name.
Key Takeaway
The iPhone reigns supreme in America (50%) , with Samsung a distant second (27%) in terms of popularity. On a global scale however, they switch spots, with Samsung in the lead—though sources vary on its exact market share.
Motorola and Google have been making inroads in the American market with the former resurrecting the fan-favorite RAZR as a budget flip smartphone, and the latter revolutionizing mobile photography through their Pixel lineup.
Most interesting however is that Huawei (1%) still has market share: the company was banned from selling its products in the U.S. in 2022. Americans can still get a hold of their handsets, either abroad or through third-party sellers, and they work on T-mobile or any of its subsidiaries’ networks.
