Waste per capita in Germany

In many federal states such as Lower Saxony, Berlin, and Bavaria, the amount of household waste per capita has been declining since 2010. This development shows that efforts to avoid waste and recycle are having an effect and that awareness of the sustainable use of resources is growing.
Whether through consistent waste separation, the trend towards reusable packaging, or the refurbishment of electronic items – more and more people are relying on less waste in everyday life. Even though there are regional differences, the nationwide decline in household waste is a positive signal for the environment and society.
