Which states have the most cost-burdened renters?

On average, Americans pay $1,300 on monthly rent (or 31.7% of their income).
If you’re spending more than 30% of your income on rent, the Department of Housing and Urban Development considers you “cost-burdened.” This means less money is available for other essentials like food, healthcare, or transportation.
The states that are the toughest on renters include:
🔸Florida: 36.2%
🔸Louisiana: 36%
🔸Massachusetts: 35.5%
