In Europe, young adults move out of their parent's home at an average age of around 26, but this varies significantly from country to country. While many young people in Scandinavia are already living on their own by the age of 21, in countries such as Croatia, Italy and Greece, many wait until around their 30th birthday to move out. This is often due to high youth unemployment and rising rents, which make the step towards independence more difficult. With an average age of 23.9, Germany is below the EU average.
