The Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest structure, costing $1.5B to build in 2010.
The tower was constructed by Samsung C&T (S. Korea) in a joint venture with BESIX (Belgium) and Arabtec (UAE). It contains a hotel, residences, restaurants, offices, and of course, an observation deck.
Malaysia’s Merdeka 118 is the newest skyscraper in this ranking, finished in 2023. Similar to the Burj Khalifa, the building is a mix of office, hotel, and retail outlets.
Construction was handled by Samsung C&T and UEM Group Berhad (Malaysia), with the total cost of the building amounting to $1.5B.
