Where Data Tells the Story

How transparent is the political landscape across the region? Transparency International’s latest data provides a clear perspective on this critical issue.
The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) serves as more than a simple ranking; it is a barometer of institutional health. Using a scale where 100 represents "very clean" and 0 indicates "highly corrupt," the results highlight the persistent structural challenges that continue to hinder development in Latin America.
The disparity across the region is significant. While nations such as Uruguay and The Bahamas maintain high scores through stable and robust institutions, the trend elsewhere is concerning. Since 2012, there has been a consistent decline in the scores of Nicaragua, Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia, reflecting a steady erosion of public trust over the last decade.
The regional challenge remains centered on the transition toward systemic transparency. The data underscores that without robust institutional frameworks, economic and social growth will continue to face inherent limitations.
