As the 2024 election approaches, individuals are pouring millions of dollars in to support their party of choice, often surpassing the campaign donations of large organizations. Elusive railroad magnate and banking heir Timothy Mellon is the largest donor to date with his $165 million total donations to Republican groups. Using data from the Federal Election Commission for the period January 1, 2023 to August 20, 2024, The Washington Post compiled the 50 top individual donors and where they spent their money.
