🤔 Visualizing Patriotism in America: Who’s Proud to be an American?

🤔 Visualizing Patriotism in America: Who’s Proud to be an American?

Key Takeaways

  • Republicans are the proudest to be American right now: with 96% answering “yes” to the question, and 4% “not sure.”
  • None of the Republican respondents answered with “no.”
  • In all the categories, those who voted for Harris in 2024, had the highest “no” share (29%).

🇺🇸 The Politics of Patriotism

In YouGov’s most recent survey, conducted March 14–17th, 2025, 73% of the 1,132 adult citizens questioned were proud to be American.

But there are some nuances within the data, especially compared to 2024’s survey.

Republican voters swung a full 7 points to “yes” between 2024–25. At the same time Democrats swung 8 points to “no.”

This suggests pride in the country is increasingly tied to who’s in power—and their politics—than broader national identity.
