Traffic fatalities
Country roads remain the most dangerous routes in Germany: 58% of all victims die on country roads, often due to excessive speed and risky overtaking maneuvers. On highways, 43% of victims died as a result of speeding. The debate about speed limits therefore remains highly topical. In cities, pedestrians are particularly at risk.
It is striking that although the number of accidents is falling, the number of cyclists killed in accidents has been rising for years.
