What the Earth is made of

This visualization shows the chemical composition of the Earth across its three main layers: crust, mantle, and core. Each ring represents a different layer, starting from the crust on the outside, the mantle in the middle, and the core at the center.

The segments show the relative abundance of key elements such as oxygen, silicon, iron, magnesium, aluminium, nickel, and a grouped “other” category. The visual highlights how the composition shifts dramatically from the oxygen-rich crust and mantle to the iron-dominated core.
