$100 bills on the rise 💯
According to Federal Reserve data, the number of $100 bills has climbed dramatically over the past several years, outpacing the growth of all other denominations.
One reason for this is $100 bills have a longer lifespan than $1s and $5s, due to people using $100s less often in transactions. Some businesses may also decline $100 bills as payment.
Based on 2018 estimates from the Federal Reserve, a $100 bill has a lifespan of over 20 years, significantly lower than $1s (7 years) and $5s (5 years).
