A World of Inequality
The Gini coefficient is a complex formula producing a number that turns out to be a simple way of understanding how unequal a society is: a coefficient of 0 means the society is very equal while 1 is the absolute opposite. The most equal countries are mostly located in Europe while the least equal ones are in Southern Africa and Latin America. But no matter how equal a given country is, most of the global wealth is still very unequally distributed among a few: a staggering 35% of all wealth on our planet is owned by just 0.35% of humanity.
