Global broad money supply climbed to $144 trillion in December 2025, up from $26 trillion in 2000—equivalent to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.0% over the past 25 years.
Momentum strengthened in 2025, with broad money expanding 10.4% year-over-year in December. A meaningful share of this increase reflected the depreciation of the U.S. dollar against major currencies, as the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) fell 9.4% year-to-date.
