While the United States is a major exporter of agricultural goods, it also imports many everyday food items from around the world. Driving the need for imports is seasonal availability, consumer preference for year-round and tropical products, and relative competitiveness in production. This graphic shows a sampling of the most familiar grocery store items which are top agricultural commodities imported into the U.S. in 2020, scaled by dollar value (for commodities over $100M).
