In 2022 and 2023, the European Union significantly reduced its crude oil imports from Russia, decreasing by 81%. This sharp decline was counterbalanced by increases in crude oil imports from other countries. The United States saw an 82% increase in imports, reaching 614 thousand barrels per day (mb/d). Norway's imports rose by 35%, totaling 282 mb/d. Saudi Arabia's imports increased by 50%, amounting to 235 mb/d. Angola experienced a dramatic rise of 582%, contributing 211 mb/d.
