The total cryptocurrency market capitalization soared 116%, climbing from $1.7 trillion on January 2, 2024 to $3.7 trillion by October 24, 2025. During the same period, Bitcoin’s market value jumped 151%, from $0.88 trillion to $2.21 trillion as its price rose from $45,000 to $111,000. The bull run accelerated after the U.S. SEC approved spot Bitcoin ETFs (Jan 10, 2024), unleashing institutional inflows and propelling total market value to $2.6 trillion by March. Optimism around the April Bitcoin halving and Ethereum’s Dencun upgrade fueled further momentum. Political catalysts amplified the surge—Nov 5, 2024: Trump’s election victory pushed Bitcoin to $76K; Dec 5: BTC surpassed $100K ($103.7K ATH); and Jan 20, 2025: Trump’s inauguration lifted it to a record $109K amid expectations of pro-crypto policies.
