To date, approximately 272,000 metric tons of gold have been discovered, including 217,000 metric tons historically produced and 55,000 metric tons remaining in underground reserves. In 2024, global gold production totaled 3,670 metric tons, with an additional 1,370 metric tons sourced from recycling.
