Luzon is the most populous island in the Philippines with 64,301,558 residents, accounting for the majority of the country’s population and serving as the location of the capital, Manila. Mindanao is the second most populous island with 27,384,138 people, making it the largest population center in the southern Philippines. Negros ranks third with 4,797,302 people, followed closely by Panay with 4,669,037 residents. Cebu holds the fifth spot with 3,400,522 people, reflecting its role as a major urban and economic hub in the Visayas region.
Leyte is home to 2,626,970 people, while Samar has 1,924,651 residents. Mindoro, with 1,430,921 people, is the eighth most populous island, followed by Bohol with 1,412,726. Palawan, which is geographically large but less densely populated, ranks tenth with 1,023,849 people. These figures highlight how the Philippine population is distributed between the two largest islands and several mid-sized islands across the Visayas and Palawan.
