The Most Affordable Supermarket in Every State

To help families on their way to better budgeting, we were tasked by NetCredit to uncover the most affordable supermarket chain in every state.

We analyzed prices for a shopping list of items from major brands at over 2,000 grocery stores across 136 supermarket chains located in or open to deliver to one of the 145 most populated cities across the U.S. Once the data was collected, we calculated the average price per item at every chain in each city and state. Lastly, we calculated the price premiums by comparing the average prices of the branded items to the average across all chains in each state.
