Private Electricity Consumption in Germany

Private Electricity Consumption in Germany

Despite the growing number of electronic devices, electricity consumption in German households is overall declining—thanks to modern, energy-efficient technology and more conscious usage. Notably, devices like TVs, computers, and phone chargers now account for 17 percent of total consumption, while air conditioning systems barely register.

By 2024, nearly 60 percent of Germany’s electricity already comes from renewable sources, led by wind and solar power. Coal and gas are losing ground, while a small share of electricity is still covered by imported nuclear power.
