This visualisation shows India’s domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) domestic consumption and production in FY25, highlighting a significant supply gap. Total consumption stood at approximately 31.3 million tonnes, while domestic output was only 12.8 million tonnes. By March 2025, monthly consumption had reached 2.73 million tonnes, compared to domestic production of 1.07 million tonnes. India imports around 60% of its LPG needs, with nearly 90% of these imports passing through the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.
