Due to ongoing global oil market disruptions, gas and diesel prices have jumped. ⛽
Gas prices across the US are up by almost a dollar per gallon since last year (+$0.99/gallon). Diesel fuel is also up versus last year — nationwide it’s increased $1.84/gallon.
The West Coast saw the biggest price increases in both regular gasoline (+$1.22/gallon) and diesel (+$2.31/gallon) since last year.
As of April 27, 2026, the average price of regular gasoline nationwide reached $4.12 per gallon, the highest level since August 2022.
Regional differences remain significant. The West Coast has the highest prices in the country at $5.41 per gallon, while the Gulf Coast remains the cheapest at $3.68. The Rocky Mountain region ($4.02), East Coast ($3.96), and Midwest ($3.88) all sit below the national average.
The latest surge reflects tightening global energy markets, refinery constraints, and continued geopolitical disruptions affecting crude oil supply chains.
