India’s Solar Glass Manufacturing – A Rising Powerhouse
As of FY2024, Borosil Renewables leads India’s solar glass industry with a daily melting capacity of 1,000 TPD, holding a 43% market share. New entrants like Vishakha Renewables, Triveni Renewables, Gobind Glass, and Gold Plus also began production in FY2024, boosting domestic capacity.
By Q1 FY2025, India’s solar glass capacity is expected to reach 2,650 TPD (17.2 GW). Major expansion is underway – Reliance New Energy is constructing a 2,000 TPD plant, while Borosil plans an additional 1,000 TPD by FY2026.
Further capacity additions announced by Vishakha (1,100 TPD), Triveni (850 TPD), Indosolar (1,000 TPD), GREW Energy (300 TPD), and Saint-Gobain (450 TPD) will drive India’s total solar glass capacity to an estimated 9,350 TPD (~60 GW) by FY2027 – marking India's emergence as a global solar glass manufacturing hub.
