Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was named the top "dream" college by the highest number of students, according to The Princeton Review. Princeton University is the preferred school for parents.
MIT is among the most difficult schools to get into and also one of the most expensive colleges in the United States.
The Princeton Review surveyed 9,317 college applicants and parents across all 50 states about their "dream schools."
38% of respondents expect to spend more than $150,000 on a college degree.
Harvard dropped from No. 1 after a period of controversy, including allegations of antisemitism on campus and the resignation of Harvard President Claudine Gay amid plagiarism accusations.
