Norway’s sovereign fund amounts to approximately $374,000 per resident—3.6 times the UAE figure under a consistent asset screen.
This visualization divides the largest eligible sovereign fund in each country by its 2025 resident population. Norway ranks first, followed by Monaco, Kuwait, Qatar and Brunei. Monaco reaches second place despite holding only $8.6 billion because its population is just 38,341.
China provides the reverse surprise. Its $1.57 trillion China Investment Corporation equates to only about $1,000 per resident, leaving it outside the top ten.
To improve comparability, the ranking excludes central-bank reserves and funds whose reported assets consolidate operating companies. Only the largest eligible fund in each sovereign country is counted.
The figures represent a scale comparison—not personal wealth or money residents can claim. Fund assets are not reduced by public debt. Displayed values are rounded to the nearest $1,000, and underlying asset dates vary. Several major funds do not publish official AUM, requiring the source report to use estimates.
