Gender Pension Gap in Germany

Women in Germany receive on average 27% less pension than men – that’s around €6,900 less per year. If widows' pensions are excluded, the gap widens to nearly 40%. 😲

Unequal parental leave, unpaid care work, the part-time trap, and the gender pay gap all play together to create these unequal pensions. 

Women are 2.5 times more likely to be living alone in old age and must cover living expenses entirely on their own.
