Gender Gap Parity in Pakistan and Bangladesh: Indicators Score
The 2024 Global Gender Gap Index (146 countries) shows that while no country has achieved full gender parity, 97% of the economies have closed more than 60% of their gap, compared to 85% in 2006. The scores range between 0-1. A score of 1 indicates perfect gender parity.
Bangladesh's Global Gender Gap Index rank dropped to 99 in 2024 from 59 in 2023. Women’s representation in senior leadership roles has decreased. Bangladesh, unfortunately, reports the lowest score in Economic Participation and Opportunity, while Pakistan reports the lowest score in Political Empowerment. The Global Gender Gap Report 2024 ranked Pakistan second last, at 145 out of 146 countries. It has an overall index of 0.57, indicating a significant gender gap.
