EVs sales % of new car sales - Top 10 Countries

Electric Vehicle (Cars) made up 18% of total new car sales as per the latest data from International Energy Agency (IEA) for 2023.

I present the top 10 nations leading the pack with highest new EV cars penetration, and data is heavily skewed towards European Countries, as 9 of 10 countries are European. Further one can notice that in Nordic countries (top 5), half of the new cars sold at Electric.

Interestingly, China stands out at the only Asian and Non-Europen country in the top 10, which can be credited to the heavy subsidy by govt and concentration of EV supply chain, leading to lower manufacturing costs, and subsequently lower prices to consumers.
