Where Data Tells the Story

IMF projections for 2026 show Africa’s economy reaching roughly US$3.56 trillion in GDP at current prices.
But the distribution is highly concentrated.
The five largest economies account for about 51% of the total:
Together, these countries represent the continent’s economic core.
Yet the story does not end with the giants.
East Africa is gaining momentum through Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.
West Africa is becoming more diversified, with Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire emerging as major regional players alongside Nigeria.
North Africa remains a heavyweight bloc, led by Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco.
And Central and Southern Africa remain strategically important because of minerals, energy, agriculture, and regional trade.
The key takeaway: Africa’s 2026 GDP story is both concentrated and changing.
The giants still dominate, but the risers may define the next decade.
