In the 2000s, China's annual GDP growth averaged 10.3%, surpassing the 5.8% growth of Emerging Market and Developing Economies (EMDEs) by 4.5 percentage points. During the 2010s, the gap began to close as China's growth decelerated and EMDEs maintained steady performance. By the 2020s, the growth rates of China and EMDEs are projected to converge, with the gap narrowing to just 0.2 percentage points by 2026.
