What Do You Think of PayPal's New Logo? 🤔
What We're Showing
This graphic shows a timeline of PayPal's logos, since its introduction as a payment platform in 1999. Logo assets were gathered from 1000logos.net.
Who Made It?
PayPal's new logo for 2024 was created by Pentagram, a London-based design firm that dates back to 1972.
Pentagram has worked with various high profile clients including Warner Music Group, Reddit, and Amazon's Prime Video.
This rebranding effort follows in the footsteps of numerous fashion and tech brands that have converged on a similar style of bold sans-serif wordmark.
How is it being received?
PayPal's switch to a plain wordmark logo has been met with mixed reviews.
For example, in an article by Creative Bloq, one author described the rebrand as a "striking evolution that reinforces the brand's authority."
Others aren't as impressed. In a recent Medium post, Michael Buckley writes:
"Today’s visual landscape is increasingly filled with generic, minimalist identities designed to appeal to everyone but stand out to no one."
