EU Employment With Large-Scale Multinational Enterprises
In 2022, the EU controlled 2 592 large-scale multinational enterprise (MNE) groups operating in the EU and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries.
In terms of employees, 74% of the employed and self-employed persons in EU-EFTA, who work in a large-scale MNE group, are working in a group controlled by an EU Member State. Meanwhile, there are 7% employed and self-employed persons who are controlled by EFTA countries, while the rest of the world has a 19% share.
Sweden (34.33%), Luxembourg (31.9%) and Finland (28.1%) had the highest share of people working with large-scale MNEs. On the other hand, Cyprus (4.7%), Greece (6.3%) and Malta (7.9%) had the lowest share of people working with large-scale MNEs.
