Which states have the highest share of residents on SNAP?

The House passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which would expand work requirements for the SNAP.
So who could this impact? In 2024, 41.7 million people received SNAP benefits every month — that’s about 12.3% of the entire US population.
Reminder: SNAP is a federal program funded by the USDA, but it’s mostly run by individual states. And participation varies big time: in 2024, Utah had the lowest enrollment at 4.8%, while New Mexico hit a high of 21.2%.
