What we’re showing
This graphic illustrates the history of major media companies’ logos.
NBC
NBC's logo has undergone a number of changes since the the first radio themed logo was rolled out in 1926. Most notably, the multi-colored peacock first made an appearance for the NBC television network in 1956. "The Bird" was introduced to reflect the rise in color programming occurring at the time, and still remains a major feature in NBC's logo today.
Warner Bros.
The classic shield design has endured over the past century, and a version of that design is still in use today. Perhaps the biggest left turn in the design was the abstract rounded "W" shape created by legendary designer, Saul Bass. At the time, Warner Bros. had evolved into a multi-media corporation, and company leaders felt the WB shield design was too associated with the movie industry. The new logo had to extend across a number of different applications, so simplicity was key.
Netflix
The first Netflix logo that we'd recognize today–the stylized white text on a red background–was introduced in 2001, and has been iterated on, but not wildly changed, since then.
