Top AI Traffic Winners by Category
This chart from Similarweb's ranking of the AI Referral Traffic Winners By Industry shows the categories getting the most referral traffic, and the report shows the individual domains getting the most traffic. YouTube gets the most referrals (both from ChatGPT and Google's own Gemini), and other leaders include the usual suspects at the top of tech. Others that are leaders in their categories include researchgate.net in Science and Education, zillow.com and other retail sites in Business and Consumer Service, europa.eu in Goverment, nih.gov (the US National Institutes of Health) in Health, investing.com in Finance, homedepot.com in Home & Garden, kayak.com in Travel and Tourism, and zara.com in Lifestyle Brands.
This data is based on an analysis of Similarweb's data on the top 1,000 domains across all categories and the referrals they are getting from the major standalone AI engines. It does not include referrals from the AI features Google is embedding in its default search experience, such as AI Overviews and the new AI Mode option.
