The World's Top Retailers by Revenue

What We’re Showing

The top 20 retailers worldwide in 2024 by revenue, based on data from the National Retail Federation.

Methodology

To be included in the rankings, companies must engage in a goods-for-consumer resale business accessible to the public and have direct selling operations in a minimum of three companies.

The rankings include both public and private companies, based on revenue of the most recent 52-week period ending between January and March 2024. All revenue figures were converted to U.S. dollars.

Key Takeaways

  • Overall, four of the top five retailers by revenue were based in America, and the majority of revenues were driven by domestic consumers.
  • Germany’s Schwarz Group is the top European retailer, with the highest revenues generated from international operations across this list at $119.9 billion.
  • E-commerce giant, Alibaba, ranks as the biggest retailer in Asia. Despite regulatory crackdowns in recent years, it is the seventh-largest company by market cap in the country.
