Good bang for your buck
People like to grumble whenever Netflix increases its prices, but data shows this isn’t stopping them from being a subscriber. In almost every quarter since 2013, Netflix has managed to increase its subscriber base (currently 85 million across the U.S. & Canada).
Here are some cool data points that capture the value Netflix offers:
- As of July 2023, 55% of its total library was made up of Netflix Original movies & series
- Netflix’s content budget for 2024 was $17 billion, with plans to spend over half of that on creating Originals
- Netflix is also making a big push into sports, including the recent Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight, Christmas NFL games, and WWE “Raw” program.
When is the next hike coming?
Netflix hasn’t raised prices since Oct. 2023, leading many to believe that the next hike is imminent. Analysts from Citibank believe that Netflix could raise its U.S. prices by as much as 12%.
